Research and innovation in physics at Lund University reaches 44th place in the international Shanghai ranking.

In this year's Shanghai ranking, officially known as the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), highlights physics as one of the areas where Lund University excels on the global stage. In the subject-specific ranking, physics is ranked 44th in the world, a clear recognition of the quality of research in the field.

‘We are very pleased with this high ranking. The results reflect many years of investment in building strong and innovative research environments. Our goal is to continue to be one of the crown jewels of Lund University’, says Else Lytken, Head of the Department of Physics.

ARWU evaluates around 1,900 universities from 96 countries using criteria such as world-class faculty, high quality research, research impact and international collaborations. These measures reflect the influence and quality of research outputs.
